A goddess arrives

In a simply amazing hit-packed twelve minutes, the artist known as "Our Glorious Leader" proved once more that she is just that!

Performing her much-hyped interval segment for something called the Superbowl (which is apparently popular in America, involves what they call "football" - actually a form of Rugby with crash helmets for boys who don't like being bruised - and was bafflingly shown on BBC1), Madonna pulled out all the stops (and C-Lo Green) for a most brilliant show. Watch the whole thing:

With nods to Kylie, and even Toni Basil, the wait was worth it!

[Thanks, Marky!]

  1. The start was very Kylie's Aphrodite - but the whole performance was a-maze-ing

  2. I am sick as a dog - just crawled to the computer to check if things went well with my queen at the Super Bowl. Apperantly she put on a flawless performance. Cant wait to watch it when I regain consciousness...

  6. Having never seen a "Super Bowl" appearance by anyone else ever (unsurprisingly since this bizarre "sport" has never really caught on over here), I think I can honestly say the same...

I would love to know what the psychiatrists make of all the fuss about these shows - I mean, Janet Jackson's left tit was not really extraordinary to us Brits brought up on Page Three of The Sun. So why was MIA suddemly considered to be "obscene" for giving the finger to the audience? Freaky.

  7. Well, the Super Bowl incident did so much damage to Janet´s career that she still hasnt really recovered from it (sadly - I love her). The whole drama about it was ridiculous - you could hardly see anything had happened in the broadcast, the camera was pretty far away.

The whole MIA thing is a bit of a deal, thanks to those bloddy parents association and the likes. The station that showed the Super Bowl had to issue a public apology for MIA's "behaviour".

How funny: for once, Madonna is NOT the controversial one!!!

Love the photos - I am (slowly) starting to feel better and intend to get drunk on Madonna in the coming weekend ;)

And BTW: Diana Ross did an AMAZING Super Bowl show back in the 90s:

I also liked Prince, Bruce Springsteen and of course Janet!

  8. oh please...Janet's career is just fine and I don't think has anything to do with her "wardrobe malfunction" many years ago. MIA's finger is not getting very much mention. Who cares! Football is America's game and We love it not Bizarre to us! Yes Diana did an amazing performance many years ago, but MADONNA's performance was above and beyond the rest. And I believe the ratings actually went up during the halftime...which is rare! (all us gays tuned in!) I have been watching the Superbowl from an infant. It is one of America's traditions that I actually care about and I am thrilled that the queen of pop did a great job. Proud of her!

  9. I've never seen a Super Bowl half-time show before, and probably never will again, but I can't imagine one being any more fabulous than this one. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!

  10. The ratings did go up from around 111 million to around 114 million when Madonna was performing, which is an all time record.

I think that Janet's career did suffer greatly from the SuperBowl incident - when a lot of people hear her name, that is what they think of. Since it happened, Janet has not done a full scale tour in the US or hardly appeared on TV to perform (atlhough she is still a regular guest in interviews). Not to mention that she hasnt had a major hit in the States ever since the SuperBowl.

Madonna´s SuperBowl of course will never be topped!
